Although familiar via countless TV sitcoms, it's her small but priceless role in "Kid Millions" that I like best --- as the raucous, man-hungry princess who sets her eye on Eddie Cantor.

Ultimate moment?

Eddie: Oh, go away from me. I can't talk to an idiot!

Eve: I can, c'mere!

###Jeff Cohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13397346655785197799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9980139.post-21840011480471043062006-12-08T11:27:00.000-05:002006-12-08T11:27:00.000-05:00Sid Garry seemed to have a style very similar to H...Sid Garry seemed to have a style very similar to Harry Richman--especially by the early 1930s...quite common back then to take on the style of more popular singers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9980139.post-82903578253714584122006-12-08T11:01:00.000-05:002006-12-08T11:01:00.000-05:00SID GARRY:

(I know it's extant, I used to own a 35mm safety film Realart(Universal) reissue print) If you can track it down, by all means do--it is a time capsule of lesser known acts of the early 30s: Ed Sullivan is host, the "poor man's Burns and Allen": Jesse Block & Eve Sully--there should be a bio about them--they missed an audition by a fluke and Burns & Allen got hired for their big chance instead.. Also in the cast is dialogue comedian George Givot and a few bizarre Vaudeville acts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9980139.post-41188374423100327412006-12-08T07:10:00.000-05:002006-12-08T07:10:00.000-05:00Sid Garry kind of sounds like Harry Richman, only ...Sid Garry kind of sounds like Harry Richman, only in a lower register.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9980139.post-76742769370920996822006-12-07T23:05:00.000-05:002006-12-07T23:05:00.000-05:00Thanks, Joe! As for "Puttin' on the Ritz," I doubt I'll ever be able to entirely shake off the 1970's disco rendition by "Taco," which suggests a multi-screening of "Young Frankenstein" is in order!

JeffJeff Cohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13397346655785197799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9980139.post-38115660607717607652006-12-07T22:29:00.000-05:002006-12-07T22:29:00.000-05:00Jeff: Thanks for more of your evocative writing. ...Jeff: Thanks for more of your evocative writing.
